Yachin You paints landscapes of the mind: colorful inner worlds in oil pastel and woodcut printmaking.

Her work begins with loneliness. It's the feeling that turns a person inward, toward the islands, icebergs, and volcanoes that only exist inside them.

​

Each piece maps some part of that territory: the contrast between the inner and outer world, between self and others, and the strange comfort of a place that will always be there for you.

​

In summer 2026 she began a daily series, We Are All Icebergs, making one small painting a day on the idea that most of a person sits below the waterline and it takes courage and curiosity to go looking. 

​

"I think of each piece as a real place. Not one you can fly to, but one you might recognize, because you've been there on some quiet night. If someone looks at a landscape of mine and thinks, I know this place, then the work has done its job."

Alongside the daily paintings, Yachin continues to carve and print woodblocks by hand.

​

"I'm drawn to the marks and textures that printmaking processes create. Some can be controlled and some cannot, quite like life. Being openminded and playing with these artistic outcomes is what I do in the studio."

​

Every piece is made by hand in her studio currently based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

 

Prints are released in small signed editions, paintings are one of a kind, and both are announced to her newsletter first.
